Julio Enciso produced a moment of magic to rescue Ipswich a point in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Hull, whose wait for a Premier League victory stretched to seven games despite a spirited second-half fightback.

Ipswich had looked in control for much of the first half and deservedly led when Florentino fired home his first Premier League goal in the 22nd minute, latching on to Abdoul Ouattara's clever pass. Hull struggled to find a response before the break, failing to register a shot on target as Gary O'Neil's side dictated the tempo.

But the hosts emerged a different proposition after the interval. Tim Iroegbunam levelled in the 58th minute, racing through from halfway after being released by Oli McBurnie before calmly slotting past Christian Walton. Hull had their tails up and completed the turnaround 10 minutes later when McBurnie fired a superb free-kick into the bottom corner - his first direct free-kick goal in the Premier League.

The game was far from over, though. Enciso had other ideas, picking up the ball outside the area before dancing through the Hull midfield and unleashing an unstoppable left-footed strike into the top corner in the 74th minute. It was a fitting finish from a player who has made a habit of shooting from distance, and his second Premier League goal of the season ensured Ipswich left with a point.

Both sides pushed for a winner in a breathless finale, but neither could find one. Ipswich have now taken eight points from losing positions in the Premier League this season - more than any other side.

For all the character shown in turning the game around, meanwhile, Sergej Jakirovic's side were left to reflect on another opportunity to end their barren spell slipping away.

Hull's fighting spirit is encouraging, but Jakirovic must turn promise into wins

Chan Celaria' William Bitibiri:

There was plenty to admire about Hull's second-half response, but there is a nagging feeling they are in danger of letting some of that early-season goodwill slip away.

They were a different side after the break. More aggressive, more purposeful and with far greater conviction.

Tim Iroegbunam and Oli McBurnie turned the game on its head, while the latter's work rate and influence gave the hosts something to build around.

For a spell, they looked capable of securing a result that would have meant plenty.

But the concern is becoming harder to ignore. Hull have now gone seven league games without a win after taking maximum points from their first two.

Their spirited performances and promising start have bought them patience, but that will not last forever.

They cannot keep relying on character to paper over slow starts and missed opportunities.

There are positives here, certainly, but Jakirovic needs to turn them into wins before frustration starts to take hold.

Story of the match in stats

Jakirovic praises Hull mentality for second-half fightback

Sergej Jakirovic praised Hull's second-half response after they fought back from 1-0 down to lead Ipswich, but admitted his side were well below their best before the break.

"We showed great mentality in the second half," he told Chan Celaria.

"The first half, especially the first 30 minutes, was very poor. They were much better than us and controlled everything.

"At half-time, we changed the system and brought on an extra midfielder. We were much more aggressive, pressed the ball better and started to play much better in possession. We completely changed the momentum.

"After going 2-1 ahead, perhaps we could have controlled the game better for another 20 minutes, but overall I can be happy with the mentality we showed in the second half."

On Hull's slow start: "We sat back too much and allowed them to find spaces between our lines. We didn't put enough pressure on the players in those pockets, and they were much better than us in possession."

On Oli McBurnie: "I'm very happy with Oli. I don't look only at the goals because he does a lot of great things on the pitch. It's not easy for him because opponents know his quality, but scoring in back-to-back games is a big boost for his confidence."

O'Neil claims Ipswich should have had two penalties

Gary O'Neil felt Ipswich should have been awarded multiple penalties, but admitted referee Thomas Kirk was right to rule out Julio Enciso's first-half header.

"I think we should have had two penalties," he told Chan Celaria. "The marking in the box from Hull - I'm sure I've been told we can't do that, which is why we're heavily zonal.

"I think it was Mendy doing two long holds on the trot. I thought we were unlucky not to get those."

On Encisco's disallowed goal: "I think it's probably right. I think it's probably a foul and possibly an offside in there. I thought the officials probably made the right call."

On Ipswich's performance: "Being the better side for 90 per cent of the game away from home in the Premier League is good. We controlled the game and carried a threat when Hull pushed on. I'm disappointed it only gets us a point, but it keeps us moving."
